ALOR STAR: Rising floodwaters have forced 107 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates from SM Sains Tuanku Syed Putra in Perlis to sit their exams in Kedah.

The Kedah Education Department said the candidates would take the examination at Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi (SBPI) Kubang Pasu from today to Dec 15.

It added that all examination materials from the Perlis Education Department were also transferred to SMK Tunku Bendahara in Kedah on Saturday under strict supervision of personnel from the Examination Board, Kedah and Perlis education departments, the Education Service Commission and Kubang Pasu education office.

“The Examination Board’s deputy director Dr Habibah Mat

Rejab was also present to ensure that the process was conducted in accordance with procedures.

“New examination personnel have been appointed to ensure smooth operations at SBPI Kubang Pasu,” said the Kedah Education Department.

It also confirmed that two examination centres in the state — SMA Darussaadah and SMK Seri

Gunung — had resumed operations after floodwaters in the area receded and the weather cleared.

It said 89 candidates from SMA Darussaadah and 62 from SMK Seri Gunung would continue the examination at their respective schools.

“The district education office, security agencies and the Examination Board will continue to monitor the situation.”
