Continuous monsoon rains expected until Dec 16

KUALA LUMPUR: Monsoon rains are expected to continue until Dec 16, based on the latest weather model analysis by the Malaysian Meteorolog­ical Department (MetMalaysi­a).

MetMalaysi­a yesterday said this situation could cause continuous rainfall in eastern and northern parts of Peninsular Malaysia, as well as in Sabah, throughout the period.

“MetMalaysi­a has issued a continuous rain warning for east and north of Peninsular Malaysia until Wednesday (tomorrow).

“A warning for strong winds and rough seas in the South China Sea waters is in effect until

Thursday.

“People are advised to regularly check MetMalaysi­a’s website at www.met.gov.my, and the department’s official social media platforms, as well as download the myCuaca app for the latest informatio­n.”

It was reported that continuous heavy rain at the severe level, or the “orange” warning level, was expected in several districts in Terengganu and Pahang until tomorrow. MetMalaysi­a also reported that continuous rain at the alert or “yellow” level is expected in Perlis, Kelantan and several districts in Perak, Terengganu, Pahang and Johor.
