Ballydesmond reveals beauty secret !

SINÉAD SCOOPS MAJOR NATURAL BEAUTY AWARD WITH HER ORGANIC CLEANSING OIL

- CONCUBHAR Ó LIATHÁIN

A SKINCARE cleanser concocted by a beauty therapist in Ballydesmond in the heart of Sliabh Luachra has been awarded a major commendation by the UK’s Green Parent magazine.

Sinéad Murphy owns and runs the Finishing Touch Beauty Salon in Ballydesmond and found that customers were not happy to pay the high prices charged for some branded beauty products.

Winning the ‘Best Buy’ award for her Geranium and Orange Cleansing Oil is a huge boost for her brand, Blumáin Organic Skincare, as it means it will be included in the Green Parent Natural Beauty Bible.

“A lot of customers were coming to me and their skin was very sensitive and they found the branded skincare products to be very expensive,” she said.

“I’ve worked with many different skincare brands and when I decided to open my own salon in my home village ten years ago in the middle of the recession, I found it a struggle to find anaffordable, organic, salon quality skincare range for my clients and it was here that the idea for the Blumáin Organic Skincare range began.”

Sinéad is a firm believer in natural and organic beauty products that are packed with, as she says herself, ‘only the finest organic vegetable oils, butter, floralwaters, botanical extracts and essential oils’.

At this point, she reveals a secret of the beauty trade as far as the major labels are concerned.

“I really believe that every product should be packed with functional, beneficial ingredients, not fillers,

thickeners and artificial scents!” So now you know.

“I am absolutely delighted to win this award for my product, it’s a lovely

reward for all the hard work that goes into making these products,

“My product was up against some big, really well known brands and the fact that it won a prize shows that it’s every bit as good as them.

“The cleansing oil has been one of my best sellers from the beginning because it’s suitable for all skin types and it’s just brilliant at removing makeup.

“The product entries for the awards were put through a rigorous testing process, with the winning products being chosen by a panel of experts, beauty bloggers and readers of the magazine.”

Sinead handmakes all the products herself in her workshop in Ballydesmond.

“I love making my products, and the fact that I get to use them on my clients in my salon is the icing on the cake,.

“I just love seeing the difference in my clients skin after one of my facials.”

Sinéad’s beauty business has grown since the days it started during the last recession and has had to meet the challenges posed by COVID-19 also since it arrived in March of this year.

But Sinéad is undaunted and this latest award is something that inspires her as she faces the future.

“I love the creativity of being able to develop my own products suited to my customers’ wants and needs.

“There is nothing more rewarding than seeing those clients coming back to purchase their favourite products again and again or their friends and family buying the products on their recommendations.

“My aim is for my products to encourage women to look after themselves a little more, make self-care a must.”

And in the current climate, who would disagree with her!
