Teen lovers charged with sexual indecency

SIBU: Two teenage lovers charged under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 pleaded guilty at the Children’s Court yesterday.

The boy, 16, and the girl, 15, were released on RM2,000-bail each with their parents as sureties while waiting for a report from the Welfare Department.

They were presented before magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali yesterday, who ordered them to appear again in court on Nov 18.

According to the charge sheet, the boy had touched the girl’s breast and rubbed his private part against hers inside a toilet at Kampung Hilir Road on Sept 12.

He was charged under Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for a maximum 20 years’ jail and also liable to whipping on conviction.

The girl on the other hand was charged with producing child pornography of herself committing indecency which she sent to the boy on Oct 14.

She committed the offence under Section 5 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a jail term not exceeding 30 years and not less than six strokes of the cane on conviction.
