A £2.5bn betrayal
WITH the publication of Labour’s £2.5billion steel strategy, the end of an era approaches.
The long-awaited blueprint effectively signals the end of the production of virgin steel in Britain – and, consequently, we will no longer have the raw materials to build our own warships and submarines.
Given the looming threat of a third world war, the timing appears – to put it mildly – rather poorly judged. But as has been repeatedly shown, Britain’s capacity to defend itself from hostile powers is very low on this Government’s list of priorities.
Instead, Labour’s new steel strategy is all about flaunting the party’s green credentials and rushing headlong towards Net Zero. Our national security hasn’t been given a second thought.
