SPORTING CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly told his friends and family the club he intends to sign for this summer – amid interest from United and Arsenal.

Gyokeres has been at the centre of a transfer storm this summer already with it looking likely that he will depart Lisbon. There has, however, been plenty of confusion as to how much Sporting will allow the Swede to leave for.

It is said the striker’s camp were under the impression that a bid in the region of £60million would be enough for Sporting to green light a transfer.

Their president Frederico Varandas has since dismissed those claims, however, and while he reckons that Gyokeres will not be held to ransom by his £85million release clause, he will also not be sold for as little as £60million.

This news is thought to have angered Gyokeres’ camp, while there are reports that the relationship between the two parties is now at an all-time low. Despite this, there still seems to be desire from all involved to get Gyokeres his move and it is claimed that the Swede is starting to feel confident about which deal he wants to pursue.

Sadly for United, it does not look to be them. According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crooks, Gyokeres has informed those close to him that he ‘expects’ to join the Gunners this summer.

Crooks says that he received a message in the last 24 hours suggesting that this is the route that the forward is looking to take.

While the pre-existing relationship with Ruben Amorim is a factor that leans towards United, the fact Arsenal are in the Champions League is thought to draw more weight.

The deal does not seem to be done and dusted, though. Crooks claims that Sporting are looking to hold out for a figure close to £80million this summer and, while they look likely to spend big on Benjamin Sesko, it is still unclear whether or not Arsenal are willing to spend a similar fee on Gyokeres.
