ARSENAL midfielder Thomas Partey was axed by Ghana as part of their bid to improve discipline.

Boss Otto Addo made the shock call to omit the Gunners ace from his ranks earlier this week in a statement move, later citing “internal issues” for his decision.

However, sources have relayed Addo was agitated by Partey’s decision to withdraw from last month’s two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan, which resulted in a 0-0 draw and 2-0 defeat.

Partey was understood to be suffering from sickness and opted to stay in London, even though Ghana wanted him to be in camp to undergo further assessment.

The 31-year-old was then deemed fully fit to feature in Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth straight after the international break.

Addo has since talked to the midfielder, who he was set to name captain for upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger, to clear the air.
