MIK’S SESKO SHOP

- ■ by JOHN CROSS

ARSENAL will try to tempt RB Leipzig to sell them Benjamin Sesko before the end of the month.

The Gunners are ready to splash the cash for the Slovenia striker as they look to boost their firepower.

Sesko, 21, has a gentleman’s buyout agreement of around £60m which would allow him to leave in the summer.

But Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is in the midst of an injury crisis – with Gabriel Jesus the latest star to be laid up long term – and the Gunners are willing to cough up more in a bid to tempt Leipzig to do business now. Sesko (inset) was on target for already eliminated Leipzig last night as the Germans registered

their first win in the Champions League by beating Sporting Lisbon 2-1.

Arsenal wanted Sesko last summer but he opted to stay in Germany for one more year rather than share duties with Kai Havertz, who had just enjoyed an outstanding season.

But the Gunners have remained in touch, are on the case and are believed to be front-runners despite growing interest in the striker.

It still remains odds against RB Leipzig selling but a bigger offer may persuade them to part with Sesko.

Arsenal are also keen to strengthen their wide options but that may have to wait until the summer.

Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams is their No.1 target but is not available in January and wants a pay deal in excess of £300,000 a week.

Meanwhile, Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has undergone successful surgery on his ACL injury.
