Let’s Spend Some Sexy Time With Adam Lambert
With songs like “Wet Dreams” and “Lube,” the musician’s new solo EP, Afters, doesn’t hold back
“I don’t need to go shouting ‘sex’ ● off a rooftop, but I also don’t need to shy away from topics that are a part of everyone’s day-to-day-life,” declares Adam Lambert, whose new solo effort reflects that openness. It’s his first collection of original music since 2020’s Velvet, and according to the American Idol alum — who still performs with Queen (the North American leg of their Rhapsody Tour kicks off Oct. 4 in Baltimore) — the six-track Afters was liberating to make.
“[My collaborators] and I had no rules,” Lambert, 42, tells Us. “We set out to create work without any fear or shame. These songs came together from a place of ‘What do we like listening to?’”
The answer: tantalizing dance-ready bops such as the bass-heavy “Cvnty” that feel authentic to the artist himself. “For a while, I [was] trying to do the right thing to please the audience and give the industry what they think it is they want,” he shares. Now, “I’m just in a place where I’m going to give you what I like and want.” We’ll take it!
