QUEENONLINE.COM Resurrected icons carry on camping.

Never mind their low-key warm-up gig at Buckingham Palace for the platinum jubilee, Queen’s phenomenal 10-night run at London’s O2 arena in June was the real party of the summer. Shot for livestream, this blockbuster show is an audio-visual banquet of maximalist excess that would make Freddie himself proud. With Killer Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody, Under Pressure and Radio Ga Ga, the set-list of wallto-wall classics is delivered in a blaze of lasers, pyrotechnics and confetti blizzards, and there’s a giant curved video wall that hovers above the band like a golden tiara. With a glittersuited Adam Lambert pushing camp levels through the roof, and a video cameo by Freddie on Love of My Life, late-period Queen are as majestically great as they have ever been, adding a hefty dollop of Liberace-inLas-Vegas to their thunderous glam-pomp anthems. After its limited livestream window, this show deserves to be given a wider release.
