EVERTON: THE JOB NOBODY WANTS
EVERTON face a losing battle to land top target Marcelo Bielsa as the crisis-hit club’s search for a new manager threatens to turn into a farce.
The former Leeds boss (left) has not yet rejected the Toffees but will need persuading as he’s not convinced about the job. Bielsa’s concerns had opened the door for ex-Southampton chief Ralph Hasenhuttl.
But it emerged that back-up option Hasenhuttl, sacked by Saints in November, would also pass up the chance to fill the vacant Goodison hot seat.
West Brom’s Carlos Corberan is a contender but the Championship club would demand serious
compensation for Bielsa’s former No.2 at Elland Road.
Interest has cooled on Sean Dyche but he could re-emerge as a candidate.
And any move for former boss Sam Allardyce seems out of the question.
It has left Everton scrambling around for a new manager to help plot the club’s survival fight.
Under-fire majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri insists he won’t be selling the club despite criticism of his ownership and the board.
He will only listen to offers for investment in their stadium project with costs soaring over £700m.
