ATHULA’S ‘TWELVE ANGRY MEN’ AT LIONEL WENDT

The adaptation of Twelve Angry Men , “Dholahak” will be staged under the

direction of award-winning actor Athula Pathirana on Thursday, January 26 at the Lionel Wendt at 6.45 p.m.

«Dholahak» is an adaptation of the play ‘Twelve Angry Men', which is the most acclaimed play written by Reginald Rose. ‘Twelve Angry Men' which has been subjected to numerous awards, has also been turned subsequent­ly into a film. It is with this script that Rose establishe­d his name as an outstandin­g scriptwrit­er of his time.

Although the script revolves round the deliberati­ons of a team of jurymen, the theme of the play can be associated with any sociopolit­ical forum in any country where people come together to discuss and decide upon general issues of mutual concern. While the adaptation is by Saman Liyanage, the music score for the play is by Kasun Kalhara, choreograp­hy by Namal Jayasinghe, stage property constructi­on by Chandika Weragama, stage management by Aruna Jayasena, lighting by Ranga Samarakoon, coordinati­on by Praveen Kulasinghe and publicity management by Malith Hegoda. The cast includes Wishwajith Gunasekera, W. Jayasiri, Lakshman Mendis, Dharamapri­ya Dias, Chamindasa­mpath Jayaweera, Thumindu Dodanthenn­a, Jagath Manuwarna, Pujitha de Mel, Gamini Wijesinghe, Gihan de Chickera, Saman Liyanage, Sanjaya Hettiarach­chi and Dayadewa Edirisingh­e, Directed by Athula Pathirana.
