03 Poly­groups

When I am sure that my ba­sic shape has been cap­tured and no ma­jor changes will be later ap­plied, I use this stage to poly­group the mesh. Poly­group­ing en­ables much bet­ter con­trol when it comes to re­topol­ogy and UVS. Mask out the ar­eas you want grouped, and in Tool>poly­groups tab press Poly­group By Mask ( Ctrl+w). Re­peat this process through­out the whole mesh.
