Aaron Sims Creative DISCUSS 3D printing A Demogorgon for Stranger things

-

“We had worked with the Duffer Brothers once before, and they approached us with an earlier concept for what would become the Demogorgon,” says Aaron Sims, recalling how the studios’ work on the sci-fi horror series

Stranger Things came about. He continues: “It was initially a very loose idea of this bipedal creature with no face. We were fortunate enough to nail the design in just a couple of weeks. These initial concept designs were iterated for key scenes and helped visualise this iconic creature, as well as the Upside Down world.”

It was a pivotal project for furthering the studio’s skillset, as Sims explains: “We initially did a smaller 3D print of the Demogorgon and then wanted to up our game with something at a much larger scale. What came of it was a 28-inch tall 3D printed model with between 15-20 individual pieces and appendages that were then assembled and hand painted for the final product.”
