DIFFERENT TYPES OF MATTES
While using a single Alpha channel is a simple way to create transparency, it is limiting if multiple objects in a scene need to be created. To manage this, most 3D software can create multiple images with transparency or an alpha matte for a specified object in the scene. The issue with this is that it can create a lot of rendered files. Some 3D software can create mattes which use multiple colours (typically Red, Green and Blue as they are easily keyed) so that three objects can be matted from one image file. New formats like Cryptomatte can handle many objects and materials in a scene in a single file; find out more at (https://github. com/psyop/cryptomatte).
