MADE FOR CUSTOMISATION

BLENDER’S ADD-ON SYSTEM IS MOSTLY FREE, DEFINITELY VAST, AND CONSTANTLY UPDATED

-

Because it’s built with an opensource community, Blender’s always evolving. You don’t have to wait for a grand release to see advancement. You don’t even have to wait for the next incremental iteration, you could do it yourself.

There’s a Python workspace built right into Blender which allows you to automate tedious operations with your own mini program. And if what you’ve made helps others, you can share it as an add-on, for free or for profit.

And if you’re not codinginclined, go and sample the near infinite library of add-ons already available. The most widely relevant are activated when you download Blender, or can be enabled with a click. On places like Blender Market, Github and Gumroad, you’ll find stashes of the latest add-ons, allowing you to customise Blender to an absurd degree.

There are add-ons to ease the manual labour of retopology. There are add-ons that automate retopology entirely. There are addons for architects and add-ons for node-wrangling cowboys. You can rig a model with a flick of your mouse, or edit UVS without the FUS. You can even generate terrain by installing an add-on that uses Google Maps, creating landscapes that look utterly real because, you know, they are.

Do you have an irrational hatred of plumbing? Good. A Blender add-on generates pipes. Another one does the same for books. Another, mechs. Another, spaceships. In short, the add-on ecosystem lets you make Blender your own.
