WHICH IS BETTER FOR AN ARTIST WHEN TRAVELLING, AN IPAD PRO OR A MOBILESTUDIO PRO?

You’re a digital artist who not only works with painting applications, but you also sculpt from time to time too. You use a beefed-up desktop which is perfect for this kind of work, especially when paired with a graphics tablet, but what about those times when you want to work away from the desk? Well, these days you have a lot of options to help unshackle you from your office, the problem is they can be very expensive. So which device do you invest in?
For me, the more artist-friendly and compact options would be either Apple’s ipad Pro or Wacom’s Mobilestudio Pro. Now these are two different beasts so we can’t compare them directly, so what you need to do is decide you are going to use them – this will then help you decide which is the right option for you.
If you’re looking for something which is light, easy to use and will allow you to paint, sketch or sculpt on the go, then I would recommend the ipad Pro. It’s a great device for thrashing out ideas and you can quite happily sit with it in your lap while on the sofa, sat on a train or even by a pool. The downside would be that it uses a unique operating system, so there would be a bit of work involved in getting any work you do back onto your desktop and into your commonly used apps.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for more of a mobile office which gives you access to all your desktop applications, then I would look at the Mobilestudio Pro. Yes, it’s bulkier and not as easy to work with on the go, but you can take your work with you and continue in the same operating system and applications.
Now these are just some general views and obviously there are more factors to consider, but once you nail down the device’s intended use and look at what best suits your needs, it will make the choice a little easier.
