SPECIAL EDITION WRANGLERS
AS WE await the arrival of the new JL Wrangler later this year, Jeep Australia is running out the old JK with a pair limited edition variants. The Golden Eagle and Freedom are both available in two- and four-door bodies, run the 209kw/347nm 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol engine and Commandtrac 4x4 system. The Golden Eagle can be had with either a six-speed manual or five-speed auto, but the Freedom is auto only.
A homage to a special edition variant of the Jeep CJ of the 1980s, the Golden Eagle sports Golden Eagle decals on the bonnet, bronze-painted 18-inch wheels, and bronze-accented headlight rings, grille throats and “Jeep” badging. It also gets body-coloured fender flares, rock rails, and Mopar all-weather slush mats.
Inspired by its Willys Jeep military heritage, the Freedom sports “Oscar Mike” logos, which represents the military phonetic alphabet for “O-M”, a phrase interpreted as “On the Move”. Other design touches include “Freedom Star” decals, black grille throats and headlight rings, granite crystal-painted 18-inch wheels and grille, body-coloured fender flares, rock rails, and a premium black Sunrider soft top.
Only 120 Golden Eagles and 150 Freedoms will be available in Australia, with prices starting at $42,990 and $43,990 respectively.
