30 YEARS AGO SEPTEMBER 1992
THE big news in the September issue was that a new Troopy was due to arrive in Australia, powered by the 4.5 petrol engine. Back then it was even noticed that the Usa-sourced Isuzu Trooper had ABS brakes, something the Australian Jackaroo didn’t have. How times have changed, when every vehicle on the market except for a horse and cart have ABS these days!
Moonie was out wandering with a yarn on the west coast of South Australia, one of his favourite haunts that he has been going to for the last 50 years!
In other destination yarns, David Corke went looking for the grave of Charlie Gray, one of the doomed Burke & Wills members and a story that still resonates among modern-day explorers. We also explored around Mount Stirling in the Victorian High Country; and across the border in NSW, Vic Widman took us around Yalwal.
