4 x 4 Australia

20 YEARS AGO OCTOBER 2002

-

THE magazine was looking pretty darn good in these years, with better paper stock, thicker covers and art direction under Andrew Brown and design by Ryan Kitching, people who go largely unnoticed and unrecognised by most but who are so important to the look and feel of the 4X4 Australia mag.

This month, Philip Lord was driving the latest Jeep Wrangler on the famed Rubicon Trail in the USA. It’s a trail that most fourwheel drive editors would give their eye teeth to drive at least once … and probably a lot more to repeat the experience! Dean Mellor took the latest Rangie for a spin and then for something different, a Diahatsu Terios! I wonder which one he preferred?

Moonie interviewed the late and legendary, Molly Clark, while outback adventurer, Neil Cocks, changed desert sands for the ferns and greenery of the Otway Ranges in south-western Victoria. For an adventure farther north, Allan Whiting took us to Cape Palmerston, south of Mackay, in sunny North Queensland.
