NISSAN PATROL WARRIOR TO BE DEVELOPED LOCALLY BY PREMCAR
PATROL WARRIOR TO BE WIDER, TALLER AND OFFER IMPROVED RIDE AND HANDLING ON-AND-OFF-ROAD
FOLLOWING up on the success of the Nissan Navara PRO-4X Warrior, Nissan has just announced it will further expand the program to include the Nissan Patrol in Warrior guise. The Patrol platform had been widely speculated to be the next vehicle to receive the Premcar treatment, and after further examination from the Premcar team, we can now confirm the Patrol Warrior will be put in to production.
What this will include for Aussie four-wheel drivers, we aren’t exactly sure just yet, but it is safe to say this will be a vehicle for those wanting a V8 petrol powered four-wheel drive wagon with upgraded suspension, wheels and off-road biased tyres (to name a few features), directly from the factory.
The Patrol Warrior will be exclusive to Australia, and as such the Premcar team tells us they have developed and tested the Warrior to meet the harsh off-road conditions we experience in Australia. We do know this means the Patrol Warrior will be wider, have more ground clearance and offer improved ride as well as handling compared to the stock Nissan Patrol.
The development program is expected to take approximately 12 months to complete, and is such a large undertaking that the Premcar team has been active in expansion, additional staff recruitment and investment in machinery to get the job done.
When asked about the expansion to include the Patrol in the Warrior program, Nissan Australia marketing director, Adam Paterson, had this to say: “I’m extremely excited to announce that a Nissan Patrol Warrior is coming, and I have no doubt that it will be a huge success.
“The Warrior program, our collaboration with Premcar, has already proven immensely popular in Australia, and a new version of the already hugely capable Nissan Patrol is a vehicle I, like many Australians, can’t wait to drive.
“Our collaboration with Premcar is all about developing vehicles that are perfectly suited to Australian customers and conditions.”
Based in Victoria, Premcar is said to have already built 1000 units of the Nissan Navara PRO-4X Warrior, showing there is a strong demand for factory enhanced 4WDS. By including the Patrol in this line-up, you start with a large family 4WD wagon, that produces 298kw of power and 560Nm of torque, as well as offering proven off-road capability.
