NEW COASTER

Toyota launched its new Coaster bus lineup with a redesigned model for 2017 that the company says is stronger, safer and more comfortable. The 2017 Coaster features a stronger and more rigid frame, the addition of driver and front passenger airbags, and upgraded suspension hardware and tuning. The Coaster’s new body is 70mm taller and 45mm wider with more upright sides for more interior space. Exterior upgrades include new headlamps and tail lights, twin rear doors with an emergency exit, a larger entry step, and rear fog and high-mounted stop lamps. A modernised dashboard layout provides a more functional work space for the driver, including better visibility and additional storage options.

SYDNEY CONTRACTS

There are 233 bus routes in Sydney’s inner-west set to be privatised, in a move that did not escape criticism. At the time, State Transit Authority (STA) ran the services in question. NSW Minister for Transport Andrew Constance said that the decision to privatise Bus Region 6 services was due to lacklustre performance results.
