WA BUS APP GETS RIDE-SHARE SAVVY

A NEW BUS-JOUR­NEY APP launched in Perth will al­low users to track buses in real time and al­low the re­port­ing of bus stop dam­age, with the trial ver­sion set to be avail­able to the gen­eral pub­lic in full next year, the Western Aus­tralian gov­ern­ment states.

La­belled as the “new fron­tier of pub­lic trans­port tech­nol­ogy”, a se­lect num­ber of Perth bus pas­sen­gers are in­vited to beta test the “next gen­er­a­tion” Transperth app – which is said to have sev­eral new fea­tures in ad­di­tion to the real-time bus track­ing – with users go­ing into the draw to win AUD$75 of SmartRider credit.

It will also al­low pas­sen­gers to man­age their SmartRider ac­count, travel alerts, SmartParker and bike shel­ter ac­cess, as well as mak­ing it eas­ier to save their favourite jour­neys on the Transperth net­work, it’s claimed.

Transperth is hop­ing about 5,000 users will visit the Transperth web­site to sign up to be part of the beta test­ing group that will pro­vide feed­back on the ef­fec­tive­ness of the up­dated app, it’s stated.
