WA BUS APP GETS RIDE-SHARE SAVVY
A NEW BUS-JOURNEY APP launched in Perth will allow users to track buses in real time and allow the reporting of bus stop damage, with the trial version set to be available to the general public in full next year, the Western Australian government states.
Labelled as the “new frontier of public transport technology”, a select number of Perth bus passengers are invited to beta test the “next generation” Transperth app – which is said to have several new features in addition to the real-time bus tracking – with users going into the draw to win AUD$75 of SmartRider credit.
It will also allow passengers to manage their SmartRider account, travel alerts, SmartParker and bike shelter access, as well as making it easier to save their favourite journeys on the Transperth network, it’s claimed.
Transperth is hoping about 5,000 users will visit the Transperth website to sign up to be part of the beta testing group that will provide feedback on the effectiveness of the updated app, it’s stated.
