Took over from Dinesh Karthik at ’keeper midway through the England series, and then provided one of the highlights in the last Test, with a big-bang 114 in partnership with KL Rahul. The batting part of Pant’s equation isn’t in much doubt, having proved his capabilities in shorter forms as well. He’ll need to get better with the gloves, though, to hold onto his place in the side.
