Sri Lanka’s form batman over the past two years, this specialist Test opener has risen into the top ten of the ICC’s batting rankings. He was dominant in the series victory over South Africa, when he outscored the entire Proteas line-up all by himself in the first Test in Galle, largely off the back of a bravura, unbeaten 158 when no other batsman passed 50. Had his struggles against Australia – in 12 innings, he’s had eight single-digit totals.
