World tunes at harbour
The Harbourside Concert Series continues tonight with an intimate performance from The Zagoria Quartet and Little Row of Housez.
WA’s group of world musicians, The Zagoria Quartet, will showcase their musical roots with their signature style.
Iian Zagoria said the quartet blurred the boundaries of folk, jazz, traditional and original music.
“The Zagoria Quartet explore musical landscapes from Southern Africa to the Middle East,” Zagoria said.
“The group formed in 2013 and play mostly original world folk/jazz on guitar, mbira, saxophone, bass and drumkit.
“The music includes guitar styles from Madagascar to Cape Town and Jo’burg to Jerusalem, with high energy, original and traditional music from Southern Africa to the Middle East.”
The newly formed global folk band Little Row of Housez will also perform.
From Margaret River, the group master a range of instruments including fiddle, mandolin, guitar, cello and voice.
Tickets for the Harbourside Concert Series, which will continue every Thursday night until August 2, are available online at ptt.wa.gov.au/ venues/ albany-entertainment-centre.
Iian Zagoria, Wayan Dana and Cain Munns will be joined by Mark Cain.
