World tunes at har­bour

The Har­bour­side Con­cert Se­ries con­tin­ues tonight with an in­ti­mate per­for­mance from The Zago­ria Quar­tet and Lit­tle Row of Housez.

WA’s group of world mu­si­cians, The Zago­ria Quar­tet, will show­case their mu­si­cal roots with their sig­na­ture style.

Iian Zago­ria said the quar­tet blurred the bound­aries of folk, jazz, tra­di­tional and orig­i­nal mu­sic.

“The Zago­ria Quar­tet ex­plore mu­si­cal land­scapes from South­ern Africa to the Mid­dle East,” Zago­ria said.

“The group formed in 2013 and play mostly orig­i­nal world folk/jazz on gui­tar, mbira, sax­o­phone, bass and drumkit.

“The mu­sic in­cludes gui­tar styles from Mada­gas­car to Cape Town and Jo’burg to Jerusalem, with high en­ergy, orig­i­nal and tra­di­tional mu­sic from South­ern Africa to the Mid­dle East.”

The newly formed global folk band Lit­tle Row of Housez will also per­form.

From Mar­garet River, the group master a range of in­stru­ments in­clud­ing fid­dle, man­dolin, gui­tar, cello and voice.

Tick­ets for the Har­bour­side Con­cert Se­ries, which will con­tinue ev­ery Thurs­day night un­til Au­gust 2, are avail­able online at ptt.wa.gov.au/ venues/ al­bany-en­ter­tain­ment-cen­tre.

Iian Zago­ria, Wayan Dana and Cain Munns will be joined by Mark Cain.
