Big field for Beats, Brews

Rid­ers from across the re­gion were put through a gru­elling six hours of cross­coun­try moun­tain bik­ing at a unique first event last Sat­ur­day.

The first Amaz­ing South Coast Bikes Beats and Brews cross-coun­try moun­tain bike event saw 18 teams and eight in­di­vid­ual rid­ers take on the scenic Bos­ton Brew­ery and Den­mark Agri­cul­tural Col­lege course.

Hosted by Den­mark Moun­tain Bike Club, the event at­tracted plenty of com­peti­tors.

Bobs Bikes 2 won the small team cat­e­gory in 5hr. 17min. 1.04sec ahead of Wheely Good (5:23:20.7) and Bobs Bikes 1 (5:16:42.5).

Shane Burns won the in­di­vid­ual male 18+ cat­e­gory in 5:18:41.1sec while Eden Hughes — in the ju­ve­nile in­di­vid­ual 8-17 cat­e­gory— com­pleted 12 laps of the course in 4:53:16.6.

A to­tal of 18 teams and eight in­di­vid­ual rid­ers took part in the event.

Rid­ers en­dured six hours of cross-coun­try bik­ing.
