Picture is one of oldest in Albany
This may be one of the oldest photos taken in Albany. The image is part of a series of photos IDIDJ Australia shared on social media which date between 1858 and 1877.
The images are of Aboriginal men around King George Sound taken by European settlers.
“For a historian or researcher they offer insights into the past that are not available through the written word or any other means of communication,” a spokeswoman for IDIDJ said. “For Aboriginal families of the area the photos are a link to ancestors and to cultural practices of another era.
