Carnival success for junior sides
The Lower Great Southern Hockey Association came away from the recent South West Junior Carnival in Bunbury with terrific results, with two teams winning gold in their divisions and another taking home silver.
With 144 teams playing in the carnival over the weekend, the LGSHA teams performed extremely well.
The girls’ Year 5/6 team took home silver medals after a draw in the grand final meant they were runners-up on a countback.
Undefeated throughout the carnival, the boys’ Year 7/8 team were convincing winners in the grand final against Vic Park, with the score 2-0 when the siren sounded.

LGSHA hockey development officer Dinah Gordon said it was a great carnival result all-round.
“For three teams out of the seven entered by the LGSHA to be taking home medals was outstanding,” she said.
She said with the junior club championships and the Upper Great Southern Carnival coming up, the association was in line for more success on the back of the strong result.
