Spate of break-ins

Katan­ning po­lice have pleaded with res­i­dents to se­cure their valu­ables and lock their cars after a re­cent rise in thefts from cars in re­cent weeks.

Op­por­tunis­tic thieves con­tinue to tar­get un­locked and locked cars in the town cen­tre, with six cars bro­ken into across the week­end adding to the re­cent spate of break-ins prompt­ing a warn­ing from po­lice.

Katan­ning po­lice act­ing Se­nior Sergeant Aaron Honey warned res­i­dents to avoid com­pla­cency and to re­move valu­ables such as wal­lets, hand­bags, mo­bile phones, lap­tops and other elec­tronic de­vices from their cars.
