Lo­cal driv­ers Mitchell Per­rella, Greg Pear­son and Dion Hounsfield have re­turned the best re­sults at the WA Kart Cham­pi­onships, which were held at the Bun­bury City Kart Club last week­end.

Lake King Kart Club mem­ber and Al­bany res­i­dent Hounsfield fin­ished fifth in the KA3 se­nior heavy fi­nal.

Hounsfield started on the back row in the 26-lap fi­nal but pro­duced a strong fi­nal to climb up to fifth spot, cross­ing the line 10.784sec. be­hind the win­ner, Si­mon Minton.

In the ear­lier heat races, Hounsfield fin­ished with a se­cond, third and sev­enth plac­ing.

An­thony Per­rella, also a Lake King mem­ber, fin­ished ninth in the same divi­sion.

Al­bany City Kart Club mem­ber Pear­son recorded a fifth-place fin­ish in the Tag 125 re­stricted fi­nal, won by Roy Tester.

After start­ing in 12th spot on the grid, Pear­son pro­gressed well through the field to grab fifth spot.

Al­bany’s Paul Bat­tye was cred­ited with 12th place, fin­ish­ing a lap down in the fi­nal.

Com­pet­ing in the WA open per­for­mance cat­e­gory, Mitchell Per­rella also crossed the line in fifth place.

Mitchell Per­rella started in eighth place and slipped back fur­ther be­fore re­cov­er­ing to storm home in an im­pres­sive drive and be just 7.564sec. be­hind win­ner Court­ney Gough in the 26-lap fi­nal.

He recorded third, fourth and ninth-place fin­ishes in the ear­lier heat races.

Young­ster Har­ri­son Beres com­peted in the cadet 9 divi­sion and recorded a solid 11th plac­ing in the 26-lap fi­nal.

In the heat races, Beres fin­ished with a sev­enth, 10th and 11th.
