WE WILL REMEMBER
Myriad events will be held across Albany this weekend to mark 100 years since the Armistice to end World War I. The Field of Light, pictured, will remain a focus of commemorations.
Albany will be the focus of WA’s Remembrance Day commemorations with several events planned from Friday to Sunday.
A veterans’ march will take place on York Street from 10am as in previous years, with military personnel, ancillary groups and police joining ex-servicepersons in parade to Anzac Peace Park.
They will not be joined by military vehicles as in previous years, and plans for an air-force flyover or Royal Australian Navy visit are not yet confirmed.
Once the assembly arrives at the Peace Park, the traditional ceremony will begin around 10.30am.
It will finish around an hour later, and precede a fair on Stirling Terrace opening from midday.
There are a number of exhibitions and installations in place over the weekend.
