Captur-ing attention with power
A fascinating new powerful turbo engine is now available on Renault Captur.
With a capacity of just 1.3 litres it develops up to 150 horsepower, hence its title 1.3 TCe 150.
In Australian terms that’s 110kW, and torque is an equally impressive 250 Nm from an amazingly low 1600rpm.
Despite this added power and torque the fuel consumption is rated at just 5.4 litres per 100km on the combined cycle.
We’ve yet to road test this new model but will do so asap and get back to you. The engine at this stage is only fitted to a Captur Intens S-Edition and has driveaway pricing starting from $32,990.
Only 162 Renault Captur S-Edition is being imported. It rides on 17-inch Filante diamond-cut alloy wheels, there are Gun Metal Grey door protection inserts and skid plates front and rear. It carries S-Edition badges.
Four two-tone metallic paint finish combinations are available — Iron Blue with Diamond Black roof that’s unique to this model, Pearl White with Black Roof, Mercury Grey with Black roof and Oyster Grey with Black roof. Inside, this sportiest Captur features exclusive Alcantara leather upholstery with blue top stitching. The colour is also used on the console, steering wheel, gear lever bellows and handbrake.
The Renault technology package is standard and uses R-LINK 2 infotainment with a BOSE premium sound system.
Parking is made simpler with front side and rear parking, a reversing camera and Renault’s Easy Park Assist.
If you don’t set up your door mirrors correctly the Captur will use blind spot warning to try and keep you out of trouble.
Renault Australia advises that, “for the time being” this high-tech powerplant is only on the Captur S-Edition.
Which suggests it’s keeping its options open and we will see it on other lower-cost Capturs.
The S-Edition has 17-inch alloy wheels.
