Denmark St John Ambulance volunteers Sue Mills and Vicky Wilson received the club’s Bear Grylls Awards for their heroic efforts rescuing the victim of a snakebite last year.

Ms Mills and Ms Wilson attended a snakebite incident on the Bibbulmun Track in November.

Ms Mills said it was nearly impossible to find the location of the injured patient but for the help of Mike Marshall, a Denmark man who lived nearby.

“He gave directions to the hut, then followed the ambulance as far as it could go,” she said.

“He even helped carry the equipment and assisted the SES and other personnel.

“This award really belongs to him, for his valuable assistance during the incident.”

Ms Mills said she also would like to thank the local SES and police for their help throughout the rescue mission.
