Char­lotte Pass Drive – About 6 hours from Syd­ney and 7 hours from Melbourne by car to Per­isher. Sk­i­tube – The only way in to Char­lotte Pass dur­ing the snow sea­son. When you ar­rive at the Sk­i­tube Ter­mi­nal at Per­isher Val­ley, go to the Char­lotte Pass Over­snow counter.

Falls Creek Drive - 4.5 hours from Melbourne, 7.5 hours from Syd­ney. Chains must be car­ried. Drive and bus - Park your car at Mt Beauty at the base of Falls Creek and travel up to the re­sort in a bus. Train and bus – From Syd­ney or Melbourne, catch a train to Al­bury and con­nect with coaches. Bus - Coaches from Melbourne, Al­bury or Mount Beauty. Fly - Fly - From Syd­ney or Melbourne to Al­bury Air­port then by coach to Fall­sCreek. Pri­vate flights are avail­able to Din­ner Plain, near Mt Hotham.

Lake Moun­tain Drive – 2 hours from Melbourne. Take the Ma­roon­dah High­way through Healesville and turn off to Marysville. Bus – A shut­tle ser­vice op­er­ates from Marysville.

Mt Bul­ller Drive – 3 hours from Melbourne, 9.5 hours from Ade­laide, 8 hours from Syd­ney.

Coach - Melbourne Air­port to Mt Buller with Mt Buller Ski Ex­press 1800 800 905.

Drive and coach - Daily re­turn ser­vices from Mans­field and Mir­im­bah to Mt Buller, Mans­field-Mt Buller Bus Lines (03) 5777 6070.

Fly – Heli­copter flights from Melbourne to Buller (03) 9580 7177.

Mt Buf­falo

Drive - 3.5 hours from Melbourne. Take the Hume High­way to Wan­garatta then turn off to Bright.

Mt Hotham

Drive – 4.5 hours from Melbourne. Hume High­way to Wan­garatta then Great Alpine Road via Bright and Har­ri­etville. From Gipp­s­land, Princes High­way to Bairns­dale and Great Alpine Road via Omeo and Din­ner Plain.

Bus – Coaches de­part daily from Melbourne’s Spencer Street Coach Ter­mi­nal and Melbourne Air­port.

Train - The XPT be­tween Melbourne and Syd­ney con­nects with coaches at Wan­garatta.

Fly - Char­ter flights to Mt Hotham air­port op­er­ate from Melbourne and Syd­ney. There are also com­mer­cial flights from cap­i­tal cities to Al­bury where a bus ser­vice op­er­ates to Hotham and Din­ner Plain.

Mt Baw Baw

Drive - 2.5 hours from Melbourne. Take the Princes High­way and turn off at Moe. Snow chains are com­pul­sory.


Drive - 5.5 to 6 hours from Syd­ney; 7 hours from Melbourne. Chains must be car­ried.

Bus– A year-round ser­vice op­er­ates from Can­berra to Jind­abyne. Week­end bus ser­vices op­er­ate from Syd­ney and Can­berra. Daily coach ser­vices op­er­ate be­tween Can­berra and Cooma.

Shut­tle – A free shut­tle ser­vice op­er­ates be­tween Per­isher Val­ley and Smiggin Holes.

Fly - Can­berra Air­port is a 2.5 hour drive from Per­isher and a 40 minute flight from Syd­ney. Sev­eral re­gional air­lines op­er­ate reg­u­lar ser­vices.


Drive - 1 hour from Cooma, 2 hours from Can­berra, 500 km from Syd­ney and 550 km from Melbourne. Fol­low the Hume High­way to Gunda­gai then turn off to Adaminaby.


Drive - 2.5 hours from Can­berra, 6 hours from Syd­ney and Melbourne. The roads are clear for most of the year, but when big snow-falls hit, chains may be re­quired. Chains can be hired in Jind­abyne and Khan­coban.

Bus - Daily coach ser­vices be­tween Can­berra and Cooma. A num­ber of com­pa­nies pro­vide reg­u­lar week­end ser­vices from Syd­ney and Can­berra to the snow­fields.

Fly - Most ma­jor air­lines ser­vice Can­berra Air­port from ma­jor Aus­tralian cities and there are shut­tle transfers to and from the re­sort.
