MT BAW BAW
NEW SNOW FACTORY
EXCITING news for Mt Baw Baw in 2018 with the introduction of a brand new Snow Factory that will not only be a game changer, but enable the resort to guarantee snow.
Mt Baw Baw has partnered with TechnoAlpin to bring the first ever Snow Factory to their mountain, great news for snow enthusiasts as well as providing a huge boost for tourism in the Latrobe Valley.
The snow factory 100 R717 is set to rewrite the script for the traditional Queen’s Birthday long weekend season launch, by delivering fresh snow in ski areas in and around the bowl and guarantee that lifts will be operational all-season long.
The machine has the ability to produce 110 cubic metres of snow per day with production commencing in early May for stockpiling for the start of the season in June. It will also ensure the season is off to a snowy start.
Mt Baw Baw General Manager, John Fascio shared his excitement for the mountain’s first, encouraging snow goers to get in early and book now to ensure a spot in the snow.
“Being one of the few alpine resorts in Victoria with a snow factory, we’re convinced this will be our best season yet in attracting visitors from all over, whether it be Australian families or tourists seeing snow for the first time,” Fascio said.
“With the capability to produce snow 24 hours, 7 days a week, we are encouraging everyone to come up opening weekend and throughout the snow season to experience our toboggan parks, runs and other snow activities like never before,” he added.
In addition to the new Snow Factory, Mt Baw Baw also has a number of other new initiatives for the 2018 snow season including the Dingo Resource Centre and a Magic Carpet Lift in the Toboggan Park.
The Dingo Resource Centre includes an enclosure that is home to Mt Baw Baw’s resident Alpine Dingoes, Rowdy and Warragul. The dingoes are an environmental ambassador at Mt Baw Baw and together will work to educate the public on the unique alpine environment and the local wildlife that live within it. You can see the dingoes as they are walked through the village every day. Visitors to the mountain are welcome to meet them and learn more about the unique alpine flora and fauna.
The Magic Carpet on the Frosti Frog Toboggan Park is set to significantly improve the toboggan park experience with parents no longer having to spend the day dragging toboggans up the hill. The carpet will be open every day between 9am and 5pm. It will be free to use with a lift pass or $10 per day per person on its own.
