Richardson completes flawless season
FORMER state and national table tennis player Matt Richardson has been crowned the Myrtleford Savoy Table Tennis Associations ‘Outstanding Player of the Year’ after an undefeated singles campaign.
Richardson’s brilliance however was not enough to see his team TSP over the line in the Spring Grand Final.
TSP were defeated by the Joola team of Corey Daly, Brad Phillips and George Whitford in a hard fought battle that remained neck and neck right to the final point.
Team members from both premier and runner-up teams in the spring competition were presented with medallions by Association President, Andrew Sylwestrzak at a social night at Club Savoy last week.
“I would like to congratulate all players on their eagerness and improved standard of play this year,” Sylwestrzak said.
“And thanks to Matt (Richardson), your experience and skill raises the bar for our local aspiring champions and gives them a target to measure their standard against.”
Sylwestrzak also paid special homage to Club Savoy and staff for their continuous support and excellent venue for competition throughout 2018.
“The Association is extremely encouraged by the number of players who participated in the competition for the first time and who are eagerly looking forward to the next competition,” he added.
The next season will commence early in 2019.
Anyone interested in trying their hand at table tennis in 2019 is invited to ring either Allan on 0417331534, Andrew on 0434240731 or Mike on 57522282 and leave their contact details. The Association will then contact them prior to the commencement of the autumn competition.
