Opinions sought on aged care
FEDERAL Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan is encouraging Indi residents and aged care providers to make a submission to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.
Ms McGowan spoke in Parliament last year of the importance of Indi’s aged care providers and the need for a strong partnership with government to ensure adequate funding and resourcing is available, particularly for providers in ageing rural populations such as the Alpine Shire.
“The 2018 Indi Budget Survey showed 79.4 per cent of respondents ranked aged care and health as a very important issue. Making a submission to the royal commission will ensure Indi’s voice is heard,” Ms McGowan said.
The royal commission was announced on October 8 2018 and offers a survey for aged care providers as well welcoming submissions from the general public. The closing date for submissions will be announced later in 2019.
“I encourage aged care providers to fill out the survey and members of the public to make submissions so a complete understanding of the issues facing the sector can be ascertained,” Ms McGowan said.
