Logitech G610

Logitech is back on the menu, boys.

Honesty is generally the best policy, so even though it might sting to hear the truth, here it is. It’s been a long ( long) time since I’ve loved anything that came out of the Logitech stables.

The sharp, angular designs, superfluous ‘G’ keys and Romer-G switches just never hit the mark and screamed of a desperate attempt to stay relevent. Until now. This gorgeously utilitarian brick of CherryBrown encrusted plastic is a sheer delight — in both form and function. For an extended keyboard, its 445mm x 153mm size still feels nice and compact on the desk. The ubiquitous keyboard raisers on the bottom have been cleverly redesigned to include a midway height, now allowing you to choose from sitting flat on the desk, or at 4º or 8º angles. The Cherry Brown switches in our test unit are a the perfect type for anyone with noise concerns, plus their tactile pushback feels just as nice to type with for anyone using their rig for non-gaming related tasks. The super-long volume scroller and oversized circular media controls are reminiscant of Corsair’s flagship K-range — in other words, they’re perfectly functional and usable without needing to look or fumble. You’ll need to download Logitech’s Gaming Software to get the most out of the G610’s extended options, which include profiling for specific games, lighting options and per-key macroing. With a couple of tweaks and additions — a removable cable, cable routing on the underside and a USB port or two — in it’s next revision, the G610 could become the perfect ‘board.
