ASUS RoG Swift PG348Q

Large and in charge.

-

Ultra-wide monitors for gaming are becoming more popular, and the ASUS PG348Q is one of the best, even considering the eye-watering price. It’s a 34-inch monster, with a 3,440 x 1,440 resolution and a 21:9 aspect ratio. For a more immersive experience, it’s curved, with a 3,800R rating, and has tiny bezels to make running two side by side even easier.

The panel itself is IPS, with a 0.2325mm pixel pitch, 5ms GTG response time and the ability to display 10-bit colour. For gamers, the LCD is compatible with Nvidia’s G-Sync and offers a 100Hz refresh rate.

No surprises, the PG348Q is a gorgeous monitor, with fantastic colour reproduction, deep blacks, even backlighting and loads of detail thanks to the high resolution. For gaming, the 100Hz refresh rate and G-Sync work well to eliminate any tearing or ghosting, even with the slightly slower response time. The curvature of the screen is not over the top, and helps make the monitor seem larger, get also easier to see, as well as keeping colours and contrast very even. The stand on the ASUS deserves a special mention, as it looks very futuristic (with inbuilt RoG lighting), as well as offering height, tilt and rotation adjustments. Round the back it has the usual HDMI, DisplayPort, USB 3.0 and headphone jack.

The OSD is quite good, with various gaming modes, such as timers, crosshairs and a FPS counter, and other options such as a hardware hotkey to switch between 60Hz and 100Hz.
