ASUS Gladius

Simple, to the point, but a tad expensive.

-

Designed for right-handers, this mouse will apparently fit well with both claw and palm gamers, but we definitely found it a better fit for palm users.

For the price, we’re a little surprised at the lack of buttons — there’s just two on the left-hand side for thumb use, along with a DPI switcher behind the scroll wheel, and the main two buttons. It apparently uses ‘slide to switch’ buttons, which are meant to have a special shape that allows you to slide your thumb to press the side buttons, but we didn’t really notice much of a difference.

Another slight flaw is the DPI selection — this mouse can only handle two mouse DPI profiles, whereas most offer three, and some even more. The USB 2.0 cable is detachable, while the Asus RoG Armoury software is one of the easiest we’ve used. It even includes surface calibration to ensure the sensor is perfectly tuned to your gaming mouse pad.

The scroll wheel has a nice solid feel to it, but can’t be moved sideways — it’s either back, front or click in, whereas other mice can also move sideways. Asus includes two extra Omron switches to go under the main left and right buttons that deliver slightly different resistance, which is a very nice touch.

Considering the price, we were expecting a little more from this mouse. The exchangeable switches are a very nice touch, but it’s rather basic for one of the more expensive mice in the roundup.
