Say hello to one of the most configurable mice on the market. CoolerMaster certainly aren’t messing about with their new catch cry, “Make it yours”. Opening the box reveals a fairly standard looking mouse, but it’s the accessories that make all the difference.
Don’t like the shape of the mouse? Then swap it out for the full shell that fits over the top of it. There’s also two side panels that can be switched as well, allowing the user to build a mouse that fits their hand perfectly. And yet, once again, we see a company put the DPI switcher on the bottom of the mouse — seriously? Thankfully, this can be remapped to the seven other buttons, though, so you won’t be lifting your mouse in the midst of a firefight.
A ‘Storm TX’ button allows the user to assign an extra key function to every button, effectively doubling the number of buttons on the mouse. The software is extremely detailed, offering advanced features like lift-off distance and angle snapping, which isn’t always included with other mice. Recording macros couldn’t be simpler, and it’s possible to build up different macro profiles depending on which game you’re playing.
Our only concern is the mouse is extremely light — it feels a little cheap to be frank. For sheer perfection, we’d have loved to see removable weights so that users could make it just the right weight for their preferred style.
Still, at just $85 and being one of the most configurable mice on the market, CoolerMaster is on to a winner with this little beauty.
