Adonit Snap

$60 | ADONIT.NET/SNAP It might look weird, but this stylus is a joy for writing and note-taking.

-

There are two problems with most styluses. Firstly, the tips are often too sticky to allow smooth lines to be drawn. Secondly, they are often too large and a little soft, making precision hard to achieve. This is where the Adonit Snap comes into play.

Its slim, brushed metal body feels well made, and it fits nicely in the hand. A single button falls just right on one face — the stylus is flattened rather than rounded — leaving a small LED visible.

Drawing with the Snap is a joy. Its nib is firm and glides rather than skids over your iOS device’s display. Having just the right amount of friction is the key to success for any stylus, and this one gets it just right. It doesn’t feel like your traditional pencil and paper, but more like a modern equivalent for drawing or taking notes in an art app.

Although seemingly gimmicky, one useful feature is the single button on one side of the stylus. This can act as a shutter button for your camera app. It comes in useful if you’re a selfie fan who wants to avoid the stretched arm shot, or if you can’t hold your handset out and reach the shutter button with your thumb — a problem with larger handsets like the iPhone 7 Plus.

Another helpful design feature is that the stylus attaches magnetically to the back of your iPhone, lessening the chances of losing it while on the move.

This isn’t the cheapest stylus on the market but it certainly is one of the best, with a natural feel and a couple of useful design features to help with your daily life.
