Logitech G533

Tireless wireless.

- Alex Cox

While there’s a lot to absolutely adore about Logitech’s wireless G533 headset, there’s also a few things you’ll need to endure.

Closed-back ear cups are a bit of a science to get right. These wobbly, 30°-ish twisters should clamp down on a head of any shape. But we found an element of looseness. The fabric is a rather rough mesh, fully washable, but we found it massively itchy.

The microphone is cool in its design, clicking up flush with the right ear cup to mute itself and a dim, subtle red light to indicate when it’s muted. But the mic itself isn’t sensitive enough to satisfyingly pick up anything below an almostshout, but when it’s near your mouth, it’s buzzy, clipping, overpowered.

Audibly, it’s a clear, untouched sound stage with none of the infighting you might find in other headsets, even at very high volumes. The software DTS 7.1 surround sound is fine, and every frequency gets the same chance to shine. You’re free to tweak your own equalisation and set up personalised profiles on a per-game or per-program basis. And you’re free to enjoy all this within a decent range of its simple USB dongle, with such little lag that it’s completely imperceptible.

We got 15 hours battery life from a full charge at a reasonable listening volume here, and the automatic power-off makes sure the G533 should be ready when you need it. There are no jack options and, since it runs a proprietary lossless wireless protocol, the G533 is tied to your PC, but it’s a decent set, all in all.
