Corsair Glaive RGB
Fits like a glaive.
While it’s not uncommon to see interchangeable buttons and weights, Corsair’s Glaive RGB mouse takes the modular concept a step further.
The three magnetically held smooth, textured and winged thumb options give the ideal support for multiple grip styles, but the design feature does rule out lefties.
Like most of the high-end gaming options we’ve looked at here, the Glaive offers RGB LED lighting, but this is broken into three separately configurable areas to fully customise the lighting profile. There are two thumb buttons, a scroll wheel and a DPI toggle, in addition to the two main triggers, but as far as the number of buttons goes, the Glaive is rather streamlined. Although the scroll wheel is nicely weighted, it only offers a notched/ ratcheted system that won’t appeal to everyone and misses out on the left and right directional clicks that occasionally accompany the centre click.
Corsair’s Unity Engine does a good job of integrating the mouse with other Corsair peripherals and allows you to customise lighting, button mapping, macros and sensitivity defaults and presets. There’s also a useful surface calibration setting that adjusts the responsiveness of the mouse based on the particular surface you’re on.
The overall ergonomics of the device are good with a comfortable arch and nice soft plastic shell, but the mouse did radiate a little more heat than we’re comfortable with, making it not ideal for long gaming sessions.
Verdict
A comfortable and full featured mouse that offers fast-swap thumb rests and advanced colour controls.
