Tasmania takes Basslink to court

THE ISLAND STATE KEEPS GETTING CUT OFF.

APC Australia - - Tech Notes -

Just before Easter this year, the electricity and communications cable connecting the Australian mainland to Tasmania was damaged during routine maintenance, leaving the island state to fulfil its energy needs for a fortnight by itself. While that’s something Tasmania can handle, the similar six-month long outage that occurred in December 2015 cost the state government millions. The Tassy Government is now taking Basslink, the company that runs the undersea cable, to court, suing for damages of over $100 million. SS
