ASUS RoG Rapture GT-AC5300

$598 | WWW.ASUS.COM.AU The king of gaming routers.

-

Delving into the incredibly detailed interface of this router shows just how far ASUS has pushed the boundaries when it comes to gaming routers. It’s the most expensive router in the roundup, but also features so much more than the competition There’s a cornucopia of different menus dedicated solely to gaming that are totally absent compared to other routers, and we’re not just referring to QoS.

If you’re willing to pay a small monthly subscription, you can use the dedicated Gamer’s Private Network, which will optimise your network hops between you and your chosen server. The QoS technology is based on TrendMicro algorithms, and delivered some of the best test results when it came to gaming under load. There’s a huge eight Ethernet ports, along with eight dedicated antennae, which can all be rotated through almost 360° for optimal aiming. It even includes a built-in site survey tool, showing you where other networks are intruding.

When it came to Wi-Fi transfer speeds, this router basically wiped the floor with the competition. We can only imagine the speeds possible if you had a 4x4 media bridge to make the most of the 4x4 config used here. If you’re a network pro, there’s a massive amount of settings that can be tweaked to get even better performance than the default out-of-the-box speeds, though most users will be more than happy with it as is.

If you don’t mind spending $100 more, this is the ultimate gaming router, and is also perfect for properties that need maximum range to multiple devices.
