Enjoying in sync

You’re throwing a party and you’d like everyone in the house to hear the same soundtrack. Thankfully, pairing your players together so the same music is heard on multiple speakers at once is child’s play in LMS. It’s done by organising players into groups, which can be done on ad-hoc basis or as a permanent setting.

The quickest way to sync your players is via the player drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner of the LMS web interface. Use it to select your first player, then click the menu again and choose ‘Synchronize...’ to select the player you want to sync this one with — the second player’s Now Playing list will be selected by default. Now select your third player before choosing Synchronization again and choosing your paired group. Repeat for as many as you need to pair.

Press Play and you should hopefully find they all sync perfectly, but it’s likely that there may be some lag with certain devices (we found Chromecast was less reliable than AirPlay for example). You can attempt adjustments via LMS’s ‘Settings > Player’ tab. Select a player from the left-hand drop-down menu and Synchronization from the right to make fine adjustments.

Removing a player from your synced group is simple, too: just switch to it from the main screen, then click the drop-down menu and choose ‘Synchronize > No Synchronization’ to unpair it.
