Microsoft Office has been a success for 25 years
The ubiquitous software nearly everyone uses.
2018 saw the Windows operating system turn 30, while the Office suite celebrated its 25th birthday. Even today, Microsoft Office remains the most popular productivity suite, with an estimated one billion machines currently running it. With the launch of Office 365 in 2011, Microsoft expanded the suite from the standard desktop applications into a cloud platform, integrating a variety of applications and becoming Microsoft’s cash cow. The early version of Office was a clunky and pricey option, but has evolved into a highly integrated platform that runs not just on Windows but on OS X, iOS and Android.
