Cosmicast is positioning itself as the most beautiful podcast player on the market, and while it’s certainly a good-looking app with great visual customisation options, there are still some kinks it needs to work out before it can challenge the throne that Pocket Casts happily and comfortably occupies.

It’s early days yet, but there’s a general need for more polish – the search results are inconsistent (when I typed in ‘Serial’, the extremely popular podcast was the third one recommended), and there have been some instances of pages reloading repeatedly. Searchability is an issue in general, with some podcasts not appearing even when you type in their exact name, and figuring out how to navigate the app has posed some issues. Playback is smooth, though, and it’s easy to build playlists or change the layout of your home page (you can make the tiles tiny and fill your screen with album art if you want). Hopefully Cosmicast will continue to improve, because it definitely is much more aesthetically pleasing than most of the other apps on the market.
